Siemens appreciates the confidence you have placed in our products by installing the 3rd generation of SINAMICS Perfect Harmony GH180 6SR3_0, 40A-260A Medium Voltage Drive (formerly GEN3). This important announcement is part of our continuing communications to provide information needed to effectively manage your installed systems.

This letter serves as a formal global notification that Siemens has begun the End-of-Product Lifecycle period of the early generation SINAMICS Perfect Harmony GH180 6SR3_0, 40A-260A Drive (GEN3) as of October 2016. Siemens acknowledges the obligation to inform our customers of the decision to discontinue products in order to enable our customers to prepare for the End-of-Lifecycle period. This preparation includes the ability to order spare parts and / or assistance through the product portfolio retrofit process. This product phase-out applies only to the SINAMICS Perfect Harmony GH180 6SR3_0, 40A-260A (GEN3) product line.

Siemens decision to discontinue the GEN3 drive thus initiates the End-of-Product Lifecycle. The standard product lifecycle process allows for ten (10) years of support following the end of product manufacturing. For the GEN3 drive, Siemens will be providing our current support for a period of ten (10) years from the date of this announcement. Siemens Customer Service Department will provide technical support, field support, and a continued opportunity to purchase components until April 2026. After this time Siemens will continue to provide support on a more limited basis for this particular model.

Siemens’ continuous evolution of technological advances are driving the need to phase-out the GEN3 drive product line; however, Siemens continues to manufacture the latest generations of SINAMICS PERFECT HARMONY air-cooled and water-cooled product lines. These drive topologies are based on Siemens’ superior medium voltage cell topology and Siemens is committed to innovating these product lines by incorporating the most advanced technology in the industry.

The goal of communicating this information is for Siemens to offer guidance to help develop a lifecycle management plan for your installed systems which best fits your business situation and objectives.
