Dear Valued Partners,
Siemens appreciates the confidence you have placed in our products by installing the 3rd generation of SINAMICS Perfect Harmony GH180 6SR3_0, 40A-260A Medium Voltage Drive (formerly GEN3). This important announcement is part of our continuing communications to provide information needed to effectively manage your installed systems.
This letter serves as a formal global notification that Siemens has begun the End-of-Product Lifecycle period of the early generation SINAMICS Perfect Harmony GH180 6SR3_0, 40A-260A Drive (GEN3) as of October 2016. Siemens acknowledges the obligation to inform our customers of the decision to discontinue products in order to enable our customers to prepare for the End-of-Lifecycle period. This preparation includes the ability to order spare parts and / or assistance through the product portfolio retrofit process. This product phase-out applies only to the SINAMICS Perfect Harmony GH180 6SR3_0, 40A-260A (GEN3) product line.
Siemens decision to discontinue the GEN3 drive thus initiates the End-of-Product Lifecycle. The standard product lifecycle process allows for ten (10) years of support following the end of product manufacturing. For the GEN3 drive, Siemens will be providing our current support for a period of ten (10) years from the date of this announcement. Siemens Customer Service Department will provide technical support, field support, and a continued opportunity to purchase components until April 2026. After this time Siemens will continue to provide support on a more limited basis for this particular model.
Siemens’ continuous evolution of technological advances are driving the need to phase-out the GEN3 drive product line; however, Siemens continues to manufacture the latest generations of SINAMICS PERFECT HARMONY air-cooled and water-cooled product lines. These drive topologies are based on Siemens’ superior medium voltage cell topology and Siemens is committed to innovating these product lines by incorporating the most advanced technology in the industry.
The goal of communicating this information is for Siemens to offer guidance to help develop a lifecycle management plan for your installed systems which best fits your business situation and objectives.

installing our SINAMICS PERFECT HARMONY GH180 medium
voltage drives and want to ensure that you realize the
maximum return for your investment. This important
announcement is part of our continuing communications to
provide you with the information needed to effectively
manage your installed systems.
This letter serves as formal notification that Siemens has
begun a phase-out of the SINAMICS PERFECT HARMONY
GH180 GEN4 9 cells 40A up to 260A and GEN4 12 cells
product manufactured out of the Jundiaí facility as of
November 6, 2020. Siemens acknowledges the obligation to
inform our customers of the intent to phase out older products
to enable our customers the ability to prepare for alternatives
and/or assist in their product portfolio renewal process.
Our standard product lifecycle process allows for 10 years of
support, and we will have exceeded that time frame as of
November 6, 2030. Siemens endeavors to provide the level of
support our customers demand, and we will ensure you
continue to realize the maximum return for your investment.
So please be advised, effective November 6, 2030, Siemens
will no longer be able to guarantee service of this particular
model.
The SINAMICS PERFECT HARMONY GH180 product will
continue to be offered well into the future, but repair
component availability and advancing technology are driving
the need to phase-out the SINAMICS PERFECT HARMONY
GH180 GEN4 drive. The goal of communicating this
information is to help you to develop a life cycle management
plan for your installed systems, with guidance from Siemens,
which best fits your business situation and objectives.
Siemens will provide an opportunity for you to purchase
remaining components we have in our inventory, and our
service department will provide technical support until you are
able to transition into a new generation of our SINAMICS
PERFECT HARMONY GH180 product line. The new generation
is based on the same time-proven topology that you are
familiar with but has incorporated the latest technological
advances available in the industry today. Incentives to upgrade
your drives, as well as future support on the latest SINAMICS
PERFECT HARMONY GH180 generation, will be offered to assist
in your transition.
